About the Role

Based in QatarEnergy's Operated Onshore Oil Field Development department in Doha, plan, supervise and coordinate the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data for well and reservoir studies while supporting well operational activities. Generate field development plans and provide petrophysical support for QatarEnergy operated oil fields, and as a member of interdisciplinary reservoir study teams, participate in reservoir management, mentor staff and advise management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, coordinate and control the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data for well and reservoir studies, and support well operational activities.
  • Generate appropriate field development plans and provide petrophysical support for QatarEnergy operated oil fields.
  • Participate in reservoir management activities as a member of interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.
  • Mentor staff and advise management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry, with 6 years' experience doing a combination of petrophysical studies and operations.
  • Experience focused on acquiring, evaluating, and interpreting petrophysical data, including advanced logging techniques and the ability to define hydrocarbon contacts and assess reservoir potential accurately.
  • Thorough understanding of open hole (both wireline and MWD/LWD), cased hole and production logging tools.
  • Ability to enhance reservoir characterization through integration of petrophysical, geological, and dynamic data to reduce uncertainties in reservoir simulations.
  • Strong competency in quality control of petrophysical data, ensuring reliability and accuracy in routine and complex log analysis.
  • Experience deploying new petrophysical technologies and methodologies to optimize field development and asset value.
  • Strong teamwork skills and experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management.
  • Minimum of a BSc in Engineering/Geosciences/Applied Physics/Applied Electronics or equivalent.
  • Desirable: ability to guide and improve processes related to petrophysical data acquisition and interpretation, applying industry best practices and innovative approaches to subsurface characterization.
  • Desirable: experience with CCAL and SCAL evaluation techniques.
  • Desirable: experience working in an integrated asset team environment.
  • Desirable: knowledge of geostatistics and experience aiding geoscientists to build 3D geological and property models (deterministic and stochastic).
  • Desirable: experience of horizontal well technology and geo-steering.
  • Desirable: experience in carbonate reservoirs.
  • Desirable: experience in statistical and pattern recognition (neural networks, fuzzy logic and multidimensional histograms) techniques.
  • Desirable software knowledge/experience: Geoframe, TechLog and IP; Petroworks, Openworks, Zmap+; Petrel, RMS; Emeraude.
