About the Role

Eni Mexico has been active in exploration and hydrocarbon development off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico since 2006, notably through the Area 1 Project. Based in Mexico City, the Corporate Accounting Coordinator oversees and executes the company's general accounting activities, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements and accounting records. The role safeguards compliance with Eni's internal procedures, applicable accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, and plays a key part in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory financial statements in compliance with Mexican GAAP and IFRS.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Ensure the accurate recording, documentation, and auditability of financial transactions.
  • Review SAP accounting entries and perform account reconciliations and SOX controls.
  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Prepare and submit financial information required by Mexican regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting and tax requirements, working closely with tax, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and implement necessary reporting and accounting changes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the accurate integration of financial information.
  • Provide financial support, analysis, and ad hoc reporting to management and other departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Extensive experience in Accounting & Compliance, and experience in the Oil and Gas industry, specifically in Exploration and Production.
  • Proven experience preparing statutory financial statements in compliance with Mexican GAAP and IFRS.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican tax regulations and relevant authorities (SHCP, SAT, SENER, FMP).
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and other financial systems.
  • Experience in financial reporting, accounting controls, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and support process improvement initiatives.
