About the Role
Vestas is hiring a Finish & Paint Documentation Specialist in Chennai, India, joining the new Vestas Blades Process Engineering organization — a co-located team of subject matter experts that embeds engineering know-how directly into the manufacturing value stream. You will improve wind turbine blade manufacturing processes through the quality of shop-floor documentation, with a clear focus on modern documentation principles and technologies to secure process stability and improve overall business performance (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
Responsibilities
- Create and update documentation for the shop floor (workers, quality, and process teams) within Finish & Paint operations, ensuring updated documentation is always available.
- Adhere to the described documentation principles.
- Gather feedback from shop floors and the Finish & Paint team on the function/quality of the documentation delivered.
- Create systems and structures ensuring documentation contains agreed information (e.g. control points, tolerances, out-of-spec actions, PEE, and similar).
- Perform internal quality and maturity checks of documentation against documented criteria.
- Keep stakeholders up to date on documentation lead time.
- Create a process roadmap for improvements.
- Develop training material for reading/using the documentation package.
- Collaborate closely with documentation specialists from other teams and share lessons learned.
- Investigate and solve production issues using structured methods such as 5x Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
- Apply continuous improvement principles using quality tools like Lean and Kaizen to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure final product quality.
- Be part of building a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar.
- Green Belt Six Sigma or similar; courses in technical writing or communication.
- About 10 years of experience in similar roles.
- Ability to create process flows, establish and maintain paper or digital work instructions, and validate own work.
- Knowledge of control plans; experience working in a data-driven organization.
- Experience supporting optimization and standardization within manufacturing documentation.
- Good writing and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and translate technical jargon into user-friendly language.
- Technical knowledge of machinery, production processes, or software systems.
- Strong attention to detail; data-driven decision making (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, Kaizen).
- Willing to spend time in the factory environment; self-motivated, result-oriented, and organizationally disciplined.
- Customer-oriented, able to build networks across cultures and time zones.
