About the Role

Baker Hughes is hiring a Procurement Specialist for its SP&S team in Nailsea, England. As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing supplier relationships and ensuring the timely procurement of complex, high-value products and services — executing purchasing strategies, driving supplier performance, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support operational and business objectives. The Baker Hughes internal title for this role is Sourcing Senior Specialist - Buying/Procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities and purchase order execution for assigned suppliers.
  • Drive on-time delivery performance and ensure materials are available to meet business requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and serve as the primary point of contact for procurement-related activities.
  • Identify and resolve supply chain challenges, escalating issues when necessary and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with planning, engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure seamless order execution.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans to enhance delivery, quality, and cost performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company sourcing policies, contractual requirements, and procurement procedures.
  • Support negotiations related to pricing, lead times, and commercial terms where applicable.
  • Analyze procurement data and market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supplier management processes.
  • Manage multiple suppliers and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed of supplier performance, delivery risks, delays, and mitigation plans.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in managing suppliers of complex, long-lead-time, and high-value products.
  • Strong stakeholder management and supplier relationship skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple suppliers and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, negotiation, and driving supplier performance improvements.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in procurement and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and strong commercial acumen.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier locations as required.
