About the Role
Vestas is hiring a Finish & Paint Tooling Engineer (Senior Specialist) in Chennai, India, within the Blades Finish & Paint Process Engineering organization. The Tooling department is responsible for tooling development, requirements, and specifications, and supports supplier management and development, as well as service and maintenance strategy. You will define the requirements and specifications for tools used in the Finish & Paint process of the blade-building process, focusing on process stability, efficiency, and overall business performance (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize tools for the Finish & Paint processes.
- Develop tooling, requirements, and specifications; drive tool industrialization and standardization.
- Create a tooling and supplier roadmap via analysis of the as-is and future state.
- Manage suppliers, the CAPEX budget, and tool delivery (TPM).
- Define service and maintenance strategy, including EAM, and optimize tools currently in use.
- Use digital tools like digital twins and data analytics to improve performance and make data-driven decisions.
- Investigate and solve production issues using structured methods such as 5x Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA.
- Apply continuous improvement principles using SPC, Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure final product quality.

Qualifications
- University degree — Master of Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Green Belt Six Sigma or Advanced Manufacturing Process Analysis.
- About 10 years of experience in similar roles.
- Experience with tool development, functional requirements specification, maintenance plans, supplier management, leading tooling projects, and data process analysis.
- Experience working in a data-driven organization and supporting optimization/standardization within manufacturing processes.
- Ability to develop/specify tool functions including equipment for quality control and online process measurements.
- Understanding of how manufacturing processes can be automated for product quality; knowledge of CE marking and local safety, sustainability, and energy-efficiency regulations.
- Experience in root-cause analysis and systematic problem-solving in production environments.
- Composite materials knowledge (paint, fiberglass, epoxy resins, and other production materials).
- Self-motivated, result-oriented, customer-oriented, and committed to learning; able to work in cross-functional product development projects.
